Two different jars are sold under this name. The original Revitalizing and Brightening formula is built on Grand Rose Extracts. Absolue Longevity Soft Cream uses Absolue Perpetual Rose Extract and adds PDRN. Their refill capsules also release with opposite twist directions (Lancome USA, 2026, and Macy’s refill directions).

Lancome’s US site now sells the jar as Absolue Longevity Soft Cream, which it calls an upgrade of the cult-favorite original.
How much cream to use
Lancome’s US directions give no measured dose, only an even layer. Retailers and reviewers fill the gap, and they don’t agree.
Notino suggests a small amount, warmed on the back of the hand first. Adore Beauty goes the other way with a generous scoop, warmed between the fingers. A GeekyPosh review uses a generous pea-sized amount for the whole face.
I’d start with the pea-sized amount. Add more only if the cheeks and forehead aren’t covered by a thin, even layer.
Pressing versus gliding
The US and Canadian Lancome pages tell you to press the cream gently onto the skin.
Lancome’s travel set copy on Lotte Duty Free says something different, and so does the Lookfantastic listing for the refillable bundle (which covers the older Grand Rose formula). Both start with light pressure, then spread the cream over the forehead and cheeks, then the chin, in long gliding strokes from the center outward.
They don’t really conflict. Press first, glide outward after, and you’ve followed both.
What the texture does as you blend
It changes as you work it in.
Lancome describes a lightweight cream that thins into a serum-like lotion while you blend, then thickens again as it absorbs. Escentual’s copy for the older formula walks through the same thing in phases: thick on the fingertip and melting on contact, with a thicker consistency left behind for hydration.
Stop blending once the lotion stage has passed and the skin feels silky instead of slick.
Where does Lancome Absolue Soft Cream go in a skincare routine?
After cleansing and toning, and after serum. Eye cream comes next, and in the morning sunscreen finishes things off.
Lancome’s directions name the same lead-in steps. Cleveland Clinic’s dermatologist-written morning order (cleanser, serum, moisturizer, sunscreen) puts a moisturizer in the same slot.
Eye cream is where Lancome’s own copy doesn’t agree with itself.

I’d follow the product page and apply eye cream after the soft cream. None of the sources says either order harms the cream.
On sunscreen, Lancome’s directions mention no SPF, and Notino’s listing labels the cream as without sun protection. The morning routine needs a separate sunscreen on top. The American Academy of Dermatology recommends a broad-spectrum, water-resistant formula of SPF 30 or higher, and states that SPF 30 blocks 97% of UVB rays.
Evening has no sunscreen step.
How often should you use Lancome Absolue Soft Cream?
Lancome asks for twice a day, morning and evening (Lancome USA, October 2026). Logged routines look different, with only 22% using the cream in both slots.
That figure comes from the Skinsort community, where 97% of routines use the cream every day. The sample is 37 routines, on a page last updated July 26, 2024, and the most common position is step 7 of a routine.
It’s a small sample, so read it as a pattern in how people behave and not as a rule. It also covers the earlier Revitalizing and Brightening jar, not the Longevity version.
Lancome’s own store shows the same split. It files Soft Cream under day creams and Rich Cream under night creams, yet the Soft Cream directions still say morning and evening.
One older review used it in the evening only, partly because the cream felt heavy for daytime.
For dry skin, use both slots. If the cream feels slick under sunscreen, evening only is a reasonable call. Lancome publishes no rule for dropping the morning step, so that one is a judgment call.
Which Version of Lancome Absolue Soft Cream Do You Have?
Read the rose complex named on the box. “Grand Rose Extracts” marks the original Revitalizing and Brightening jar, while “Absolue Perpetual Rose Extract” and PDRN mark Absolue Longevity Soft Cream.
Retailers blur the line. Nordstrom lists the PDRN formula simply as Absolue Soft Cream, while Sephora and Macy’s listings still describe Grand Rose Extracts.

The daily application directions match across both jars in Lancome’s pages. The refill sequence is the one place where the version changes how you handle the product.
Lancome says Pro-Xylane is known to increase elasticity and improve hydration. L’Oreal developed the molecule, and the Paula’s Choice ingredient dictionary notes that the supporting research comes from L’Oreal’s own research group.
PDRN is a bit messier. Lancome describes Absolue PDRN as derived from rose fragments, and a footnote defines topical PDRN as a complex containing hydrolyzed DNA.
The clinical literature describes it differently. A narrative review in the Journal of Skin and Stem Cell calls PDRN a nucleic acid extract from trout sperm, with the clinical evidence coming from intradermal administration.
A July 2026 systematic review in Cureus found only four skin rejuvenation studies among the seven randomized trials that met its criteria across the polynucleotide and PDRN treatments it covered. Neither source tests this cream, so the PDRN benefit stays a brand claim.
Which Skin Types Suit Lancome Absolue Soft Cream, and When Does It Not Fit?
Lancome says all skin types. The clearest fit is normal to dry skin, and the clearest misfit is skin that reacts to fragrance.
Oily or combination skin, and sensitive skin
Lancome USA lists the cream as suitable for all skin types, sensitive included, and says it was tested for safety under dermatological control.
An older GeekyPosh review sees it differently. It rated the cream best for dry or mature skin and warned that combination, oily or humid-climate skin may find it too rich.
Both can be true. Dermatological testing speaks to tolerance, not to how heavy a cream feels on oily skin.
Fragrance is the sharper limit. Notino France’s ingredient list for Absolue Longevity The Soft Cream names citronellol, coumarin, geraniol, limonene and linalool alongside parfum.
The earlier jar’s list on Escentual shows alcohol, citronellol, geraniol and coumarin, and Boots Ireland’s refill listing also names linalool. Lancome’s US page makes no fragrance-free claim.
EU law explains why those names appear. Regulation (EU) 2023/1545 widens the list of fragrance allergens that must be named on leave-on products above 0.001% to about 80 substances, applying to new products from 31 July 2026 and to all products by 31 July 2028 (Cosmetic Observatory).
A pack printed under the new rules can name more allergens than an older one, so read the ingredient list on the jar in your hands. If rose scent or fragrance allergens are a known trigger, test a small patch of skin first.
When Absolue Rich Cream is the better pick
Switch to Rich Cream when skin turns drier than usual. Lancome’s travel set copy on John Lewis gives the same advice.
Rich Cream is thick, though it still thins into a serum-like lotion on application. It adds coconut oil and squalane to Grand Rose Extracts and Pro-Xylane, and Lancome positions it for normal to drier skin, colder seasons and drier climates. It runs $280 for 2.0 fl oz, and its product page cites a clinical study.
Soft Cream is the lightweight one. It costs $285 for 2.0 fl oz, and its product page cites consumer self-assessment only.

A workable pattern is Rich Cream through the winter and Soft Cream once the weather warms.
How to Refill the Lancome Absolue Soft Cream Jar
Release the empty capsule, seat the new one and remove the cover. The twist directions differ between the original jar and Absolue Longevity Soft Cream, so check the name on your pack before you turn anything.
For the original Revitalizing and Brightening jar, the steps follow the Macy’s and Hudson’s Bay refill listings.
- Remove the jar lid.
- Pinch the gold tabs and twist counterclockwise to release the empty capsule.
- Insert the new capsule and twist clockwise to lock it in place.
- Remove the foil cover.
The Absolue Longevity Soft Cream jar works the other way round. These are the Lancome USA directions as of October 2026.

Lancome documents no lock-out for a wrong turn. If the capsule resists, check the direction before using force.
On Lancome USA the 1.0 fl oz jar is $170. The 2.0 fl oz jar is $285, and the 2.0 fl oz refill is $242. A 15 ml size appears in gift sets, and Lancome UK lists the refill in a 60 ml format.
Per ounce, the small jar costs $170 and the refill $121. The refill is the cheapest way to buy once you commit to the cream.
Lancome’s page advertises a 16% saving on the 60 ml refill, while the listed $285 and $242 work out to about 15%.

You can. Lancome places the cream after serum, but Cleveland Clinic names cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen as the minimum morning routine, so the cream works as the moisturizer step on its own.
Does Lancome Absolue Soft Cream work under makeup?
It does, with sunscreen in between in the morning. The cream goes on first, sunscreen follows, and dermatologist layering guides such as Doris Day’s put foundation over the sunscreen.
Lancome publishes no wait time, so let the texture finish thickening before the next layer.
Can you apply it around the eyes?
Not according to the directions. Lancome sends the cream to the face, neck and decollete and hands the eye area to a separate eye cream. No retrieved direction covers the eyelids, so keep the cream off them and use Absolue The Eye Cream or your usual one.

Vitamin C goes underneath. Cleveland Clinic places serums in the second morning step, before moisturizer.

Give it 4 weeks of daily use before a first check, and 8 weeks before deciding anything.
Lancome’s travel set copy on John Lewis promises visibly plumper skin at 4 weeks. The consumer study on the Lancome USA product page ran 8 weeks with 50 women (Lancome USA, 2026).
The John Lewis copy cites no study, and the US study is a consumer self-assessment, so the test is a visible change and not a measured one.
In practice that means daily use for the first 4 weeks with nothing else new in the routine, a look at plumpness and glow at week 4, and a decision at week 8 to keep it, switch to Rich Cream or drop it.
Adding a new serum mid-trial resets the clock, because the result can no longer be traced to the cream. The cost is 8 weeks of an unchanged routine.
